LHEIDLI TOO

(two rivers water)

A campaign ignited by student mobilization and                                                                                           inextinguishable community perseverance

The Story

The Lheidli Too Movement brings the spirit of the Two Rivers to life as a project born from the strength in coming together.

Community members have been fighting for this basic human right since their displacement in 1913. The Lheidli T’enneh (like many First Nations in what is currently called ‘Canada’) have been on and off boil water advisories until the present day, with outdated water infrastructure facilities that do not meet Canada Safety standards.

In September 2022, a student group at UNBC led by Keilani Rose raised questions about the current status of the Lheidli T’enneh reservation water. The answers were unacceptable. So, they rose to the cause. With faculty support, this ongoing mission continues to expand, gaining amplification and collaboration from multiple programs, staff, and students calling for justice.

Attempts for solutions and government action continue to fall through the cracks of bureaucracy.

We are calling for solidarity in the reclamation of sacred water.
