Lheidli - Where the Two Rivers Flow Together
The Two Rivers are the life source of the territory. They are central to the original teachings of co-existence, the cultural practice and the spiritual well-being of these lands and her People.
For a People whose identity, vitality and purpose has been deeply connected to this Water for millennia …
it is time for justice.
In 1913, after multiple attempts to buy the land of the original Lheidli T’enneh Village, it was burned to the ground. The families were displaced to Indian Reservation #2. They renamed it, Khast’an Lhe Ghulgh - Bundle of Fireweed. In Lheidli lands, fireweed is the first sign of life that blossoms after the devastation of fire.
Burning for change. Flowing for life. Rising from the ashes.
We need our Water Back … So that our culture and community can come Back to Life.
